Special Programs

IERC continuously develops special programs tailor-made according to the specific demands of clients or focus groups.

Special programs include short term courses with academic content and within an academic setting, to non-for-credit courses such as continuing education programs or training projects.

One of IERC’s specialties is to create short-term study abroad programs. These are geared towards students or professionals who wish to experience a brief study tour outside of their home country. The length of these programs varies depending on the context and the content of the program.

Programs change over time to address specific areas of interest of students.

IERC´s COMBO Spanish is a unique way of delivering Spanish classes while seeing different regions of Mexico, get to know the variety in culture and language across the country and truly practice your Spanish while enjoying the experience of a lifetime.Full Information


Management:

» Strategic Management - From Theory to Practice
This program is composed of eight modules, each one 16 hours in length for a total training program of 128 hours. Each module will be taught in four 4-hour sessions. Ideally, participants will cover one module per month. Thus, the duration of the entire certificate course (diplomado) will be of 8 months. IERC will provide the facilitators and the materials for this program and will provide a certificate of completion to all participants who have successfully finalized each module.Full Information

A three-week training program specifically designed for educators, which includes:
  • Spanish Classes
  • Lectures on Contemporary Issues of International Education
  • Site visits in Mexico City
  • Hands-on learning experiences through travel in Mexico and interactions with Mexican educators

For Environmental Studies Majors:

» Rain Forest Reflections and Revelations
This program consists of a one-week academic tour, which takes students on a trip to southern Mexico.  The program can be expanded to include lectures and pertinent site-visits in Mexico City and surrounding areas with the support from the International Renewable Resources Institute (IRRI) at an additional cost. The program incorporates hands-on learning experiences with lectures and real-life examples of environmental dilemmas and projects.Full Information

For History Majors:

» Sacred Landscapes of Mexico
This program consists of a one-week academic tour, which takes students on a trip to the states of Puebla, Tlaxcala and Oaxaca.  The program can be expanded to include additional lectures in Mexico City at an additional cost. » Intensive Spanish Program for Social and Cultural Awareness
This program consists of three weeks intensive Spanish classes with a special focus on language and developing awareness and knowledge of social needs and services in Mexico. This program provides essential Spanish skills for people who intend to work in the social services field in the US and will be in contact with Latin American clientele. It offers participants with a hands-on experience of Mexican culture and with exposure to local socially-oriented organizations and institutions. Full Information
